Neil Howe is a third generation artist who explores creativity in a variety of mediums. Neil has received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he studied the figure in varying disciplines including traditional figure drawing, painting, animation, film & digital art. Color theory, analytical philosophy, and science have all influenced his art making process. The disciplines of visual art, writing, and music have provided an outlet for the artist internal struggles.
Being raised on a farm in Michigan before moving to Chicago for high school and college, he appreciates the simplicity nature offers in country living, and also thrives on the urban diversity and culture of a big city. Neil continues to introduce viewers to the principle of duality in his work. External & internal, self & selflessness, microcosm & macrocosm, this is the sort of balance that challenges and intrigues the artist.
Neil aims to maintain balance while challenging his creativity within a plethora of ever filling sketchbooks. He is humble in his thoughts and harsh in his criticism. Neil strives to maintain the freedom of the country life and the connectedness of the urban. As the owner of Intelligent Design Austin, Neil continues to vigorously draw & paint daily while pursuing the arts full time.
